Do you dig bluegrass music? The Years Of Farming Bluegrass Show is a nice indoor venue, especially for these cold, wet weekends! If you live anywhere near Flemingsburg, Kentucky you need to start making plans to visit!

The Grascals

The Grascals

Paula Hinton has got a great thing going that I believe is being very underutilized. If everyone in the area really knew what great stuff was going on there… Well there is no doubt that you would have to get there early if you wanted a seat.

Live music is better! I heard that on a Neil Young album many years ago and it still rings true with me today. There is an energy and a spirit in good live music that you just don’t get from a recording. I reckon what is “good” is up to the “behearer”, but most readers here with me surely enjoys some good bluegrass music.

This past weekend Paula had The Grascals with The Velvet Blue opening the show and running the sound, with the help of Donnie Carver, traveling sound man with IIIrd Tyme Out.

The Velvet Blue

The Velvet Blue

The Velvet Blue have opened for a few shows here and I have seen them play in other places. You can see live videos of The Velvet Blue – http://www.idigbluegrass.com/tag/the-velvet-blue/ . You can catch them around the Lexington/Morehead area. Just keep an eye on the calendar here on I Dig Bluegrass or check with their official website http://www.TheVelvetBlue.com

Lately it seems that every time I see Paula she has more shows booked. Today I learned that Larry Cordle will be in the Simons Middle School auditorium on April 21. I dig Larry, he seems like an excellent person and he has a unique style that I like.
