The article below was written in 2010 after I had made my first visit. Although the ‘article’ is dated we do try to keep a current listing of events at Rattlesnake Ridge
This past Saturday I took my daughter and my grandson to check out a new place. Well, it was a new place to us but actually the Rattle Snake Ridge Community Center (By Grayson Lake between Sandy Hook and Grayson, Kentucky) has been home to great live bluegrass music since 1976!
The Rattle Snake Ridge Community Center isn’t difficult to find. It is located on Route 3295 on the west side of Route 7. So if you’re going north on 7 you turn left on to 3295 and go about 3.8 miles and you’re there. There is a map below or you can call one of the contact numbers to get information.
This is a small and very personal and friendly venue where you can meet and talk with the musicians and have a great time. The music season starts in October and goes up through May.
David Carroll and New River Line played at Rattle Snake Ridge for the first show of the season this Saturday. The music was excellent. These guys really are very good. Adam is awesome on the banjo and he has a natural bluegrass voice. Chaston is amazing on that mandolin and I have no doubt we will hear a lot more about him in years to come – he is only 16! Oh, and by the way Rattle Snake Ridge just happens to be where David grew up, how cool is that?

Wow! I cant believe I have never heard of this place! I have lived around Carter and Rowan County most of my life but never even knew this was here. Think I will plan on seeing Tommy Webb in a few weeks then
I only heard about this summer. Actually it was David Carroll that told me about it. I’ve only made it out there once so far but definitely plan on going back. Thanks for the comments Randy
I saw Summertown Road at Rattlesnake Ridge last night. A really awesome band with lots of energy and fun. Steve Thomas was very cool, so glad I got to meet and talk with some of these guys and hear them play.
This weekend I went out to Rattlesnake Ridge to see Summertown Road. Really good stuff! Lots of energy and fun. Steve Thomas has a great stage presence, Bo is a fine singer…. I was very pleasantly surprised.
Josh Cantrell was there and he got the opportunity to go up on stage and play a couple tunes with them. Here is one of those videos:
