14th Annual Old Mill Bluegrass Festival in West Liberty Ky

This weekend I had the pleasure of listening to some live bluegrass music. Me and a friend drove over to West Liberty to check out the Old Mill Bluegrass Festival. This is the 14th year for the Old Mill Bluegrass Festival. I do love live bluegrass music and there was some great stuff to hear.
One of the best things about a live bluegrass festival for me is that I often get the opportunity to hear groups for the first time. Two groups in particular that I had never heard before was Buck and Company and the Kati Penn Band. Both groups were excellent, I would definitely recommend getting some of their music!
It was also good to see some of my favorites at the festival. Tommy Webb Band, The Grascals and Don Rigsby are always welcome at a bluegrass gathering.
We were threatened with rain throughout the evening and a couple times we got some really heavy rain for a bit, but most people stuck it out and enjoyed the show in spite of it.
If you haven’t been to a bluegrass festival then you really need to make an effort to go to one. Search the net for festivals in your area and make plans to go. There’s always plenty of great music, food, souvenirs and most groups will have CDs and other items available. Take along your fold up chairs and your coolers and try to find a shady spot so you can sit back relax and enjoy!

The start of the day was sunny,hot and windy.After we arrived it was cloudy most of the day, sometimes it looked ominous. There was one heck of a storm that came through at about 6:00 o’clock. I got drenched, soppin’ wet, and we took refuge in the car, and I dried off for the evenings performances.
