I’ll Have A Memory
Goodbye my darling thank you for your love
I’ve known Heaven in your arms
You go your way and I’ll go mine alone
for I’ll have a memory of youI wish you happiness where’er you go
and great success in everything you do
So clear your mind of any guilt for me dear
for I’ll have a memory of youGoodbye my darling thank you for your love
I’ve known Heaven in your arms
You go your way and I’ll go mine alone
for I’ll have a memory of youIf I never find another moments happiness
oh I’ve had more than enough to do
You go your way alone without me
for I’ll always have this memoryGoodbye my darling thank you for your love
I’ve known Heaven in your arms
You go your way and I’ll go mine alone
for I’ll have a memory of youFor I’ll have a memory of you

I love this. It really sounds great. It is an original song I had never heard of before and Clarence does a killer job on it. Of course I am a huge Clarence Kelly fan. In the very near future I am going to buy a Jewell Mountain Grass album.
This is great Clarence! I never knew you were in a band called Jewell Grass. You look so young in the picture and look at that hair! Loved the song
Hello Shannon, thank you for commenting! Clarence is one of my all time favorites. He is also a good friend. A few years ago he told me about his time with the Jewell Mountain Grass band. At the time I looked for something online about it but there was nothing.
Recently I was looking on youtube and found this video. It was posted in 2014 but a few days ago was the first time I had seen it and the first time I got to hear Jewell Mountain Grass.
I am determined to find the actual albums. From what I know there are two of them. A self titled Jewell Mountain Grass which was produced in 1981 and Heartfelt Bluegrass which was produced in 1983 and includes this song, I’ll Have a Memory.
I really think that Clarence is highly under rated. He is absolutely one of the best song writers and performers I have known. Forever and A Day, South of Cincinnati, and Mama’s Apron Strings are among the finest of any. – David Slone
The way I was told that it happened. A woman had written a poem and she gave it to Earl Hale. Earl showed the poem to Clarence Kelly and suggested that they make a song of it and put both their names as the writers. Clarence told Earl that he didn’t want his name on it because he did not write it. Clarence put the tune to the words. Earl put his own name as the writer.
I would have to say that Clarence did a killer job on this tune. I am glad I found it!
